Carmen Serrano (nee Rivera), age 65, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice Residential Center, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on May 26, 1951 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She resided in Cleveland before moving to Lorain in the 1970's.
Carmen was a member of Iglesia Pentecostal Cristo Missionera in Lorain. She also attended Templo Emmanuel Assembly of God. She was a proud homemaker and treasured being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband always dedicated their time to their grandchildren, so much, that when everyone saw them, they knew that they would also see all the granddaughters with them as well. She enjoyed cooking while listening to her Christian music, sewing, and knitting. Surviving are her son, Cirilo Serrano, Jr., of Lorain, daughters; Delia Serrano, Francis Serrano, and Maria Serrano, all of Lorain, her 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, brothers; David Rivera, Steven Rivera, Moses Rivera, Johnny Rivera, Sammy Rivera, William Rivera, Pete Infante, and Ray Figueroa, all of Lorain, and sisters; Aida Perez and Inez Serrano, both of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Cirilo Serrano, in 2012, her parents; Pablo and Maria (nee Pagan) Rivera, and a brother, Ezekiel Rivera.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Templo Emmanuel Assembly of God, 4230 Clinton Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 am, also at the church. Rev. Pedro Negron, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp.
