Carol Banas

Carol A. Banas (nee Rose), age 88, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at St. John Medical Center in Westlake following a short illness.

Born June 22, 1933 in Lorain, she lived in Lorain her entire life.  Carol graduated from Lorain High School in 1951, attended Lorain County Community College, received a bachelor’s degree from Ashland University and a master’s degree in education from Baldwin Wallace University.

Carol had a long career as a teacher, retiring in 1999 from Wittier Junior High School in Lorain.

She enjoyed painting pictures and loved to read.

Surviving is her son, Richard of Lorain; granddaughter, Carly Croyle; a sister, Janet (Michael) Elek of Elyria; and several nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Richard in 2000; parents, Otto and LaVern (nee Heiman) Rose; and a brother, Richard “Dick” Rose.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.  Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation, 807 Mantoloking Rd STE 201, Brick Township, NJ 08723.
