Carol S. Sheriff

Carol S. Sheriff (nee Daugherty), 72, of Elyria, died Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at her residence while under the care of Cleveland Clinic Hospice following a lengthy illness.

Born March 4, 1951, in Vulcan, West Virginia, she moved to Amherst as a child.  She lived in Lorain before moving to Elyria in 1977.

Carol was a homemaker who enjoyed line dancing, reading, and caring for children.  She was known to many as “Mom”, “Ms. Carol”, and “Mamaw”.

Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Ronald “Ron” Sheriff; a son, Ronald (Miranda) Sheriff Jr. of Elyria; daughters, Carrie (Dennis) Austin of Elyria and Venessa (Dennis) Mauder of Litchfield; and sisters, Pricey Taylor of Elyria, Patricia Cozzolino of Missouri, and Tena Hart of Texas; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stewart and Edith (nee Workman) Daugherty; a brother Thomas Daughtery; and a sister, Sheila Cozzolino.
