Carole R. Klinar (nee Horn) age 80, of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at her residence while surrounded by family and under the care of Mercy New Life Hospice.
Born January 23, 1940 in Washington, DC, she and her family settled in Lorain in 1945, and in 1999 she moved to Amherst.
Carole graduated from Lorain High School in 1958, receiving a full scholarship to MB Johnson school of Nursing (Oberlin College). She began her career as a Registered Nurse at Brecksville VA Hospital, later moving on to public health nursing for the Lorain City Health Department. Carole then put her career on hold to raise her children and assist her husband in running the family business (Scenes & Jeans). She returned to nursing, finishing her career at the former Ohio Extended Care facility in Lorain. Carole retired in 1996 as a night shift supervisor and student nurse aide instructor.
She was a member of the former Ss. Cyril and Methodious Catholic Church in Lorain. Carole enjoyed her pets, gardening, nature, reading, and especially spending time with her family.
Surviving are her sons, Richard G. (Ro) and Michael R. (Suzanne) both of Lorain and Gary A. (David) of Las Vegas; daughters, Lynn M. (Dan) Berry of Lorain and Kathleen A. (David) Roldan of Amherst; grandchildren, Daniel Berry, Amanda (Randy) Koubeck, Zak, Emily, Megan, Alexis (Austin) and Isabella Klinar; and great grandchildren, Ashton Heusel, Fynleigh and Everleigh Weglicki; sisters, Judith A. (David) Scott of Lorain, Karen S. Carver of Amherst, Cathy Belcher of Lorain, and Barbara (Carl) Rider of Elyria; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard W. in 2008; her parents, Raymond Horn in 1964 and Margaret (nee Dickey) Belcher in 2017.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Rev. John Retar, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
