Carolyn M. Richmond, (nee Stewart), 79, of Lorain, died on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Community Health Partners Hospital, Lorain following a short illness.
She was born on December 23, 1930 in Bellaire, Ohio. She was a 1949 graduate of Bedford High School. Carolyn lived in Florida and Vermilion before moving to Lorain 21 years ago.
She owned and managed Shady Rest Cottages in Vermilion for 9 years, prior to this she was a secretary for the Brotherhood of Trainmen for 9 years in Cleveland.
She enjoyed music, collecting dolls, sewing, embroidering keepsake pictures including Christmas tree skirts, playing cards, and traveling to Port Clinton with her family. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. Her greatest treasures were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Kelley, of Vermilion, and Maxine (John) Hall, of Lorain; grandchildren, Jennifer, Crystal, Angel, Cassandra, Stephanie, Johnny, Connie, Charlotte and Rachel; and 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ault, of Little Washington, PA.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Hancock in 2005; and parents, James B. and Erma M. (nee Brown) Stewart.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 until the time of memorial services at 5:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Sandie King, Chaplin of Community Health Partners, will officiate
