Carrie Simmons (nee Calabrese), 55, of Sheffield Township, died Thursday, December 29, 2005 at her daughter's home in Vermilion while under the care of New Life Hospice following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 30, 1950 in Lorain, and was a life long resident here.
Carrie was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers and spending time with family and friends.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Restored Gospel, Lorain.
Surviving is her husband, Larry E. Simmons, of 26 years, sons, Clifton Simmons of Elyria, and Matthew Murray of Lorain, a daughter, Deanna Brown of Vermilion, 6 grandchildren, brothers, Ralph Calabrese of Harrodsburg, Indiana, David Calabrese of Lorain, and Joseph Calabrese of Avon Lake, a sister, Mary Nardozzi of Lorain and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Calabrese in 1983 and Lena (nee Sorino) Calabrese in 1999.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain and also on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ Restored Gospel Church, 2655 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Elder Len Nardozzi, nephew of the deceased and Elder John Buffa, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
