Casimira "Kay" Thompson (nee Rzemiszewski), age 93, of Lorain, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at Life Care of Elyria while under the care of Stein Hospice following a short illness.
Born January 5, 1924 in Lorain, she lived in Lorain her entire life. During World War II, Casimira moved to Detroit where she worked as "Rosie the Riveter" at an airplane manufacturing company for 2 ½ years before moving back to Lorain.
Casimira worked in housekeeping at Dovin Funeral Home, Lorain, for 28 years.
She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, and volunteered many hours as a den mother. She enjoyed cooking for her family while listening to polkas.
Surviving are her sons, William (Betty) Thompson of Vermilion, Greg (Carol) Thompson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Brian (Mandy) Thompson of Grafton; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1988; and her son, Mark in 2014.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of services at 10:00 am at Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Melvin M. Sayler will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. To send online condolences go to
