Catalina Guzman

Catalina Guzman (nee Lopez) 83, of Lorain, faithful servant of God, loving mother, grandmother & great grandmother was called home to our Heavenly Father on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born July 8, 1929 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, she came to Lorain in 1957.
Catalina worked in the housekeeping department of Good Samaritan Nursing Home for 25 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain where she was also a member of the Cursillo. She enjoyed watching Spanish soap opera's and Sabado Gigante. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her late sister, Marcelina.
Surviving are her children, Wilfredo (Charlotte) Guzman, Maria (Estaban) Rivera and Maggie (Josie) Cruz all of Lorain; step children, Alfredo (Lucy) Guzman Jr., Ana Guzman and Maria Guzman all of Lorain; grandchildren, Stevie Rivera, Anthony Rivera, Melanie R. Guzman, Lila Armstrong, Wilfredo Guzman Jr., Ashley Jordan; great grandchildren, Jordan Rivera, Briana Rivera, Isaiah Brenes, Angelina Rivera, Danielle Rivera, Karmel Hampton, Jae'r Armstrong III, Alizah Catalina Jordan, and Anthony Rivera Jr.; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Guzman in 1974; her parents, Placido and Alejandrina (nee Serrano) Lopez; brothers, Pedro Lopez and Luis Lopez; sisters, Leonor Lopez, Luisa Lopez, Marcelina Lopez-Maldonado and Maria Luisa "Rosa" Lopez.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:30 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Deacon Tony DeGracia, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
