Celida M. Ortiz, (nee Hernandez), 57, of Lorain, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West, following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 21, 1948 in Lares, Puerto Rico, coming to Lorain in 1951 where she has lived since. She was a 1966 graduate of Admiral King High School.
She worked as a clerk at Lorain County Title for 18 years. Prior to that, she worked as a clerk at in Lorain.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and St. Vincent de Paul, Elyria. She enjoyed traveling and camping.
Surviving is her husband 38 years, Juan Saul Ortiz, a son, Christopher S. Ortiz of Lorain, daughters, Marisol Ortiz and Michele Ortiz both of Lorain, her parents, Raul Hernandez of Lorain, and Maria Reyes of Lorain, a brother, Hernan Hernandez of Lorain, sisters, Norma Perez of Detroit, MI, Erma Fletcha of Tampa, FL, and Ruth "Cuchi" Hernandez of Lorain, step brothers, Frankie Hernandez of Lorain, and Enrique Hernandez of Eldorado, Puerto Rico, many nieces and many nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her stillborn son in 1969, and a stillborn girl in 1971.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Friday at 8:45 a.m. following by mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel. Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
