Charles E. Hamilton

Charles E. Hamilton, age 89, of Lorain, died Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at his residence following a short illness.

He was born to the late German and Sarah Hamilton on September 28, 1935, in Teaberry, Kentucky. 

Charles's journey to Lorain began in 1958, when he joined the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant. His dedication and hard work led to a transfer to the Avon Lake assembly plant, where he continued to contribute until his retirement in 1990, marking 30 years of service.

He was a 60-year member and Deacon of Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church in Sheffield Township, and a United Auto Workers Union Local 2000 member.

Charles had a passion for collecting antique watches and jewelry, a hobby that brought him joy and satisfaction.

Surviving are his sons, Leslie K. Hamilton of Lorain and Wendel Hamilton of Huntington, WV; a daughter, Sheila Lowe of Lorain; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Jonas Hamilton of South Amherst; and sisters, Marybel Bradley of Lorain and Mindy Faye Hamilton of Dorton, KY.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Darlene Hamilton, in 1994; grandson, Ryan Hamilton; and siblings, Lumie Hamilton, Betsy Howell, Myrtle Bentley, Sie B. Hamilton, and Ermel Hamilton.

The family invites friends to join them on Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, and on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church, 5160 Bond Avenue, Sheffield Township. Funeral services will be in the church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Brother Larry Newsom will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
