Charles Lee "Chuck" Michael, 41, of LaGrange, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 from an injury he sustained while hunting in Guernsey County.
Born August 6, 1967 in Lodi, he lived in Columbia Station before moving to LaGrange in 1995. He was a 1985 graduate of Midview High School.
Charles served in the US Air Force as an aircraft armament systems journeyman from 1986-1995 during Operations Desert Shield, Storm and Calm. He received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Non Commissioned Officer Military Education Graduation Ribbon with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and Air Force Training Ribbon.
Charles had been working as a master technician at Enger Auto Service and Tire Center in Amherst for the last 6 months. Prior to that, he worked as a master technician for Lee Shubert in Wellington.
He was a member of Murray Ridge Church of God, Elyria, the National Rifle Association and the LaGrange Hunting and Fishing Club, the Patriot Guard Riders, and president of the Lord's Calvary 693 Lorain County Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle, gardening, the outdoors and helping others.
Surviving is his wife of 11 years, Shannon (nee Sullivan); a son, Thomas Lloyd Sullivan of LaGrange; and a brother, Benjamin M. of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Michael and Ruth (nee Surratt) Michael; and a sister, Carol White in 2006.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in Murray Ridge Church of God, 7942 Murray Ridge Rd, Elyria, where funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 pm. Rev. Thomas Cody, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, with full military honors provided by Elyria VFW Post 1079.
