Cinderella Helbig

Cinderella Mae Helbig (nee Hewitt), age 77, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the Cleveland Clinic, Avon, after being ill for 8 months.

She was born on October 31, 1938 in West Brownsville, PA and moved to Lorain in 1955, where she has made home since. Cinderella enjoyed being a loving wife and mother, caring for her family and home.

She was a long-time member of the First United Presbyterian Church, in Lorain, where she was also a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women's Association. When her children were younger, she volunteered much of her time to the PTA. Cinderella enjoyed working on crafts and was an avid reader. She was an experienced traveler and was able to see so many parts of the world. She also enjoyed her gambling trips and trying her luck at the slot machines. Nothing brought her more joy though than being with her family.

She is survived by her sons; Elmer Joseph (Penny) Helbig, of Avon Lake and Gerald Lee Helbig, of Elyria, daughters; Lora Mae (Allen) Moore, of St. Louis, MO and Doris Jean (Larry) Taylor, of Lorain, her 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, with 1 more on the way, a brother, Leo Hewitt, of Penn., and sisters; Sarah Hixenbaugh and Gail Doman, both of Penn.

Cinderella was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Elmer, in 2005, a great grandson, Devon Dolinsky, her parents, 1 brother, and 5 sisters.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 19, from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where her funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 11 am. The Rev. Jenni Noyes, Pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
