Cirilo Serrano, 58, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Oak Hills Nursing Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 9, 1953 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, he lived in Brooklyn, New York before coming to Lorain in 1970.
He worked as an assembler for Ford Motor Company Lorain assembly plant for 29 years, retiring in 2003. Prior to that, he worked for many years in a greenhouse.
He was a member of Iglesia Pentecostal Cristo Missionera, Lorain, and the United Auto Workers Union Local 2000. He enjoyed music, pets, classic cars, going to classic car shows and he was a boxing fan.
Surviving is his wife of 39 years, Carmen (nee Rivera); a son, Cirillo Serrano Jr., of Lorain; daughters, Delia Serrano, Francis Serrano and Maria Serrano all of Lorain; 7 grandchildren; brothers, Luis Serrano, Pablo Serrano and Felix Serrano all of Lorain; a sister, Carmen Sanchez of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; many nieces and nephews; and his brother in God, Frankie Garcia of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nazario and Francisca (nee Rivera) Serrano, both in 1979; brothers, Rev. Agustin Serrano in 2009, Rev. Miguel Serrano in 2011, and Deacon Julio Serrano in 2012.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am. Rev. Daniel Reyes, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
