Columbus R. Tomblin, age 71, of Elyria, departed this life on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at his residence after a nine-month illness while under the care of Western Reserve Hospice.
Born September 7, 1951, in Logan, West Virginia, he has been an Elyria resident for the past 56 years.
Columbus worked at the Elyria Foundry for 31 years, retiring in 2010 as a group leader. He had a real passion for hunting, fishing, horseshoes, and cornhole.
Columbus married his sweetheart, Linda Hudson, on August 22, 1980, and together they raised five children, Columbus J. Tomblin, Daniel Tomblin, Jamie Tomblin, Kenneth Hudson, and Candie Radjenovic. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers Arkie Tomblin and Timothy Tomblin; and sisters Patty (Herbert) Edwards, Drema (Donald) Sargent, and Delana (Derrick) Woody.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arkie and Nellie (nee Johnson) Tomblin; sons, Archie Tomblin and Leon Tomblin; and brothers Mark, Johnny, Joseph, and James.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremations Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.
