Dale J. Konya

Dale Joseph Konya, age 80, of Elyria, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain.
He was born on June 19, 1934 and raised in Lorain. He graduated from Lorain High School then served in the United States Army.
Dale was an avid reader and enjoyed jazz music. He liked working in the yard and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of AA for many years.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Elyria after 28 years as a postal clerk and carrier.
Dale will be sadly missed by his wife and loving companion of 17 years, Susan (nee Burford); and their dog Jerry; nephew, Ken (Lesley) Konya and their daughter Kacey of Monterey, CA; niece Nancy (Rick) Konya of Elyria; nephew, Norm Konya Jr. of Chandler, AZ; step-children, Amber (Pete) Mattfeldt of Ridgecrest, CA, and Travis (Brandy) Johnson of Porterville, CA; and many friends and relatives.
Dale was preceded in death by his father, Frank Konya in 1994; mother, Irma (nee Laky) Konya in 1997; brother, Norman Konya in 1997; and also a step-daughter, Bonnie from his first marriage.
There will be no visitation or services per Dale's request. Arrangements are being handled by the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain.
