Daniel W. Lancuski, age 46, of Sheffield Lake, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2009.
He was born on October 17, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio and resided in Vermilion, before moving to Sheffield Lake 4 years ago.
He graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1983 and served in the Navy as a builder petty officer from 1983 to 1989. He received the Sea Service deployment ribbon with 1 bronze star, Humanitarian Service Medal, expert M16A1 Riffle Award, Coast Guard Unit Commendation and the M60 Fanfair Award.
He worked in construction with several area contractors. He was a member of AmVets Post 55 of Sheffield Lake. Daniel was an avid bowler, bowling three 300 games. He was also a fan of car racing and softball.
He is survived by his wife, Diana (nee Robinson) one daughter, Carrie, of Florida, two step-sons, Randy Unangst, of Wellington, Aaron Unangst, of Elyria, a step-daughter, Tanya Unangst, of Avon Lake, 8 grandchildren, his mother, Jacqueline (nee Goss) Vance, of Sheffield Lake, brother, Adam, in Rhode Island and a sister, Kimberly (Glenn) Case, of Sheffield Lake.
Preceded in death by his father, Adam.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 3-5 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. A committal service will be held on Monday at 12:30 pm at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Rittman, Ohio.
