Dario Rodriguez, age 97, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at home surrounded by his family while under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve.
Born December 11, 1927, in Coamo, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain over 65 years ago.
Dario worked for the City of Lorain in the Water Department for 22 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to this, he worked at Fruehauf Trailer Company in Lorain.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, Sacred Heart Choir, Cursillo, the former Puerto Rican Home, and the Club Coameño. He enjoyed coaching Lorain City baseball, listening to music, playing dominos, and spending time with his family and grandkids.
Surviving are his sons, Dario (Nellie) Rodriguez Jr., Johnny (Isidora) Rodriguez and George (Jeanette) Rodriguez, all of Lorain; daughters, Judy (Jose) Muniz and Sandra (Frank) Medina, both of Lorain, Theresa (Jose) Rodriguez-Bisbal of Orlando, Florida, and Linda (Carlos) Cota of Lemoore, California; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and many brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Juanita (nee Quiroz) Rodriguez in 2019; daughter, Lydia Rodriguez in 1973; and his parents, Flor Rosa and Primitiva (nee Gonzalez) Rodriguez.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, and on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
