David M. Unger, age 61, of Lorain, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born September 29, 1962, in Amherst, David lived in Lorain County his entire life. He attended Lorain High School and was a long-time car enthusiast, especially passionate about Volkswagens.
David worked in the shipping and receiving department of Nelson Stud Welding in Elyria for 20 years, retiring in 2016 due to physical challenges with multiple sclerosis.
David married Chyrl (nee Murray) on December 7, 1986, and together, they have two loving children, Jacob Unger of Mansfield and Megan Unger of Elyria. He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Jim Unger of Lorain and Dan Unger of Bucyrus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Doris Jean (nee Eno) Unger, and a brother, Joe Unger.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday starting at 9:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. D. J. Murray, David’s brother-in-law and pastor of Upon this Rock Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
