David B. Wright, age 56, of Lorain, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at his home, while under the care of New Life Hospice.
He was born on March 22, 1954, in Lorain, where he lived most of his life. He also resided in Patriot, OH for 7 years, before returning to Lorain in 2009. David served in the United States Army from 1971 until 1973. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
He was employed at US Steel as a crane man in No. 3 Seamless Mill from 1978 to 1982. He then worked as a Security Guard for Industrial Security Service, in Cleveland from 1995 until 2002. He also worked security for various other companies as well.
David enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, as well as working on cars, fishing, spending time outdoors, and bowling.
He is survived by his son, David J., of Lorain, daughters; JoEllen (Travis) Smith, of Lorain and Rachel (John) Horvath, of Amherst, grandchildren, Breanna and Michael D. of Ashland, Angelica, Christina, Olivia, and Jonathan D., of Amherst, Michael A., and Jesse D. of Lorain; a brother, Stanley (Brenda), of Patriot, OH, and sisters; Nancy (Marvin) Vanderburg, of Gallipolis, OH and Donna Jo Graver, of Lorain; and his ex wife who assisted their children with David's care, Cheryl Bunton Newman of Lorain
He was preceded in death by his parents; Sherman and Josephine (nee Bunnell) Wright, and sisters; Patsy Woolf, in 2005, and Reva Graver, in 2009.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Rev. Greg Phillips, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 will conduct military honors.
