Dean E. Bober, 62, of Sheffield Village, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at University Hospital Emergency Room, Avon following a sudden illness.
Born December 8, 1952 in Lorain, he moved to Sheffield Lake in 1979 then to Sheffield Village earlier this year.
He graduated for Lorain Admiral King in 1972 then served in the US Army during the Vietnam War for two years. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Dean worked as a crane operator for Republic Steel in Lorain for 34 years, retiring in 2013.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104, the Amherst Veterans of Foreign War Post 1662 and the Wakeman Eagles Aerie 4354.
Dean had a passion for cars, and had just finished rebuilding his 1947 Chevy. He also enjoyed hunting and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 37 years, Julie (nee Wiencke); sons, Aaron Bober of Sheffield Village and Dean (Renae) Bober of Lorain; grandchildren, Cole, Logan and Olivia; a brother, Ronald (Eunice) Bober of Greenwood, Indiana; and sister, Elaine (Dave) Valentine of Elyria and twin sister, Deborah Leyva of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward in 1980 and Elizabeth (nee Allen) Bober in 1991.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. The Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 will conduct military honors.
