Debra Mae Hancock (nee Richmond), age 43, of Wellington and formerly of Lorain, died on Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Allen Medical Center, Oberlin, after a sudden illness.
Debra was born on September 29, 1961 in Garfield Heights, later moving to Lorain and then to Wellington.
She attended Vermilion High School and Medina Vocational School. She was currently attending LCCC and would have finished next year with an Associate's Degree of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
She was employed at Community Health Partners, Lorain, for 14 years as a patient care assistant on rehab services.
Debra was a very creative person, who enjoyed crafts and cake decorating. She enjoyed gardening, animals and entertaining people. She enjoyed going the extra mile to take care of people and to make people smile.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Vernon Ray Hancock, 4 daughters; Crystal Hancock, of Elyria, Charlotte Hancock and Cassandra Fonseca, both of Wellington, and Connie Feliciano, of Lorain, 3 grandchildren, her mother, Carolyn Mae Richmond, of Lorain, 2 sisters; Maxine Hall and Yvonne Kelley, both of Lorain, her step-mother, Ruth E. Richmond, of Huron, 2 step-sisters; Kathy Springborn and Caryl Eckenfels, 3 step-brothers; Tom, Steve, and Randy Springborn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harold Richmond, on December 12, 1993.
The family will receive friends for a memorial service on Saturday, July 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Brother Howard Carroll, pastor of the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, Lorain, will officiate.
