Delmo G. "Dale", "D. G." Hunt, age 68, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at his residence, while under the care of New Life Hospice, following courageous bout with cancer.
He was born on May 14, 1941 in Elkorn City, Kentucky, moving to Lorain in 1963.
Dale was employed as a body repairman for 35 years at the Ford Assembly Plant, Lorain, retiring in 1991. After his retirement he worked at Napa, Lorain for 5 years.
He was a member of Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church. He was also a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local #425.
Delmo enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, building race cars, and attending races at Lorain County Speedway and Sandusky Speedway.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Christine (nee Parker) Hunt, sons, Jeff (Jenny) Baker of Elyria, Delmo G. "Ellie" Hunt, Jr. and Charles C. Hunt, both of Lorain, daughter, Cynthia A. (Jimmy) Andujar, of Lorain, grandchildren, Matthew J. Andujar, Dillon Baker, Aaron J. Andujar, Jacob Baker, Savannah C. Hunt, Catie R. Hunt and Jaxson C. Hunt, brothers, James C. Hunt, of Wellington and Carl "Duke" Hunt, of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles T. and Lula (nee Dennison) Hunt, sister, Ertha Abshire and brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Hunt.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 7, 2010 from 6-9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jerry Cassidy, pastor of Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
