Diego Flecha, age 86, of Lorain, died on Monday, May 5, 2008, at his residence.
He was born on November 12, 1921 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain in 1955. Previously, he was in the United States Army from 1943 until 1946 and graduated from Ana Roque High School in 1951. He also attended the Instituto Biblico Alianza from 1980 until 1983, becoming an instructor there from 1983 until 1993.
Diego was employed at Lorain Products for 14 years, before retiring in 1984. He was a member of Templo Emmanuel, where he taught about the Bible. He was also a retired minister, treasurer and secretary, of the church as well.
He enjoyed reading, playing the Cuatro (a small guitar), and gardening both vegetables and flowers.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Carmen (nee Rivera), his sons; Waldemar, of Lorain, and Edgardo, of Southgate, MI, his daughter, Lillian Rivera, of Lorain, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brothers; Juan Flecha, of Juncos, Puerto Rico, and sister; Felicita Flecha, of Humacao, Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Juan and Inocencia (nee Sanchez) Flecha, brothers; Asuncion Flecha I, Asuncion Flecha II, Euladio, Victor, and Agripino, and sisters; Esperanza, Ramona, Silvestre, and Petra.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 8, from 5:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm, at Templo Emmanuel, 4230 Clinton Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Friends will also be received on Friday, May 9, from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am., also at the church. The Rev. Daniel Reyes, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
