Don Claire Watkins, age 75, of Amherst, went home to rest on Sunday, November 2, 2008. He was born on July 9, 1933, in Jennerstown, PA. Under the nickname, "Sarge," Don served his country for 21 ½ years in the United States Air Force. He then worked for and retired from the Lorain Ford Plant. During these many years, he was stationed in and traveled the United States and the World with his family.
Don enjoyed working with his hands, building and repairing things... always tinkering. He was always up for a practical joke, and everyone was fair game. He loved to watch "his" westerns, but was also known to catch an episode or two of Wiley Coyote and Roadrunner. Most of all, he enjoyed being a great dad, a wonderful husband, and an all-around good man.
He will be missed by his wife of 54 years, Helen (nee Thompson), his children; Keith (Lynn), Marion (Don) Kennelly, and D.R. (Christine), his 5 grandchildren, and his 3 great grandchildren, with another great grandchild on the way. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will especially miss sitting on 'Pap Pap's' lap, being teased by him and playing together.
Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, November 5, at Cochran Cemetery, in Dawson, PA.
