Don E. Abrahamowicz, age 70, of Lorain, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a brief illness.
Born August 25, 1946, Don lived in Lorain his entire life. After graduating from Lorain High School in 1964, Don signed and played baseball with the Cleveland Indians minor league team for three years. He then served in the Ohio Army National Guard for 5 years in Company D of the 112th Engineering Battalion.
Don retired as a welder from Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company after 28 years. He was a member of the United Workers Union of America Local 270.
A loving and giving husband, father and grandfather, Don focused all of his attention to his family. He enjoyed watching sports.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Kathleen (nee Ondo); sons Adrian (Teresa) of Lorain, Adam (Stephanie) of Strongsville and Paul (Tracy) of Avon; a daughter, Sarah (Matt) DiFilippo of Wakeman; grandchildren, Taylor, Andrew, Zoe, Lucas, Kilee, Roman, Gabriel and Julian; a brother, Pete (Kim) of Oberlin and a sister, Jean (Tim) Gargasz of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Florence (Gawlik) Abrahamowicz; and a brother, Mike.
