Donald C. "Pete" Gray, 65, of Lorain, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West following a lengthy illness.
He was born November 7, 1940 in Lorain, and has lived here his entire life.
He served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.
He worked at Thew Shovel as a crane repairman for 15 years. He then worked at Lorain Works US Steel as a laborer in the Coke Plant for 3 years. He also worked for Fastway Inc. in Lorain for 15 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 451, and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104.
Surviving is his wife of 29 years, Peggy L (nee Knapp), sons, Gary Commerford of North Ridgeville, Loren Gray of Parma, daughters, Patty Gray of Lorain, Linda Commerford of Lorain, Peggy Carrion of Lorain, Marsha Earls of Amherst, Brenda Bumgardner of Oberlin, Jodi Commerford of Lorain, 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Gray and Beatrice (nee McFacridge) Gray, a daughter, Barbara Commerford in 1993.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. The Dovin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
