Dora B. Archie (nee Gumbert), age 86, of Lorain, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon, after a brief illness.
She was born on October 27, 1918 in Wurtland, Kentucky. She had moved to Lorain and lived here for 57 years.
She was employed at Admiral King High School as a custodian for 10 years, retiring from there in the 1980's.
Dora enjoyed crocheting, gardening, flowers, doing yard work, and feeding the birds.
She is survived by 2 sons; Charles, of Edgewood, New Mexico and Bill, of Marion, OH, 2 daughters; Patricia Reynolds, of Lorain, whom she had lived with for 9 years, and Peggy Howard, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 brothers; Walter Gumbert, of Ashland, KY, Edward Gumbert, of Raceland, KY, Herbert Gumbert, of Wurtland, KY, and Joseph Gumbert Jr., of Ashland, KY, and 2 sisters; Elsie Boll, of Pedro, OH and Nancy Scott, of Jacksonville, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William B. Archie, who died in 1989, and a sister, Dorothy Logan, who had died in 1958.
All services will be held at Evans Funeral Home, 707 Greenup Ave., Raceland, KY. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m., in the Evans Funeral Home. Burial will follow in McCoy Cemetery, KY. Local arrangements are being handled by the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave, Lorain.
