Dorothy Rose Spears (nee Coulter), age 81, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at home.
She was born April 14, 1934, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, and moved to Lorain in 1956, at 22 years of age.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, Scrabble, crossword puzzles, and Star Trek. She especially loved Christmas and Christmas ornaments.
She was the first woman licensed for Stationary Steam Boiler Operations from the State of Ohio of Lorain County, December 21, 1981.
She was retired from Admiral King High School, where she served as the Head Custodian.
Dorothy will be sadly missed by her 5 children, Lee Ann (Ronald) Vovak of Lorain, Donald Eugene Hale of Lorain, Alice Charlene (Thomas) Goetz of Louisville, KY, Melody Jean (Dale) Poole of Carrollton, TX, and Roy Gerald (Brenda) Hale of Lorain; and her 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Harry David Coulter and Alice Merl (nee Haught) Coulter; husband, Charles Lindburgh Spears; a brother and 4 sisters; and grandchildren, Roy Gerald Hale and Daniel Ronald Vovak.
Dorothy is a member of the New Apostolic Church, Lorain.
The family will receive friends at the New Apostolic Church, 3929 Leavitt Road, Lorain, on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 7:00 pm. Reverend Adam Welch will officiate. A reception will follow the funeral service at the church. Interment will be private at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
