Earl Hendricks, Jr., was born on August 12, 1936, in Boone County, West Virginia. He grew up in Elk Run and Whitesville, graduating from Sherman High School in 1954. Upon graduation, Earl entered the United States Air Force and was stationed at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, Alabama. It was there that he met the love of his life, Patsy Ruth Hayes. Earl and Patsy were married on February 22, 1957. Their first son, Terry, was born on January 20, 1958.
After leaving the Air Force, Earl moved his family to Sylvester, West Virginia, working at the State Finance Department in Charleston. In 1961, the family moved to Lorain, Ohio where Earl took a job with B. F. Goodrich Chemical Company in Avon Lake. After 32 years of faithful service, Earl retired in 1993. During this time his second and third sons were born; Brian on March 8, 1970, and Paul on June 9, 1972.
Earl was a devout Christian and served as a deacon and bookkeeper for several churches throughout the years, including Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lorain, Church of the Open Door in Elyria, and Faith Baptist Church in Amherst. He also began Earl Hendricks Jr. Tax Business in 1963 and continued for 47 years until retiring in 2010.
Earl is preceded in death by his father, Earl Hendricks, Sr., his mother, Mary (nee Tucker) Hendricks, and his sister, Lillian (Hendricks) McCormick. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patsy (nee Hayes); his brother Rick; his sons Terry, Brian, and Paul (Diane Blastic); and his grandson Brendan.
Earl Hendricks, Jr., never knew a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
