Eddie A. "Chop-Chop" Guidicelli, age 67, of Sheffield Lake, died on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at Community Health Partners HSC-West, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 17, 1939, in Penuelas, Puerto Rico. He moved to Lorain 1947, and later moved to Sheffield Lake, where he resided for 23 years. He attended Clearview High School.
Eddie was a member of the Sheffield Church of God and the United Auto Workers Local 425. He was employed at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant for 33 years, working in commercial trim, before becoming a group 2 utility man and then a trim repair man. He retired in 1996.
While working at Ford, he was elected to a two-year term on the Election Committee. The following election he ran for district committeeman, a position he held for the next 20 years. He was also an FTPM coordinator, served as 1st vice president of the credit union for two years, and was a delegate to the Lorain County UAW-CAP Council for many years. Most recently, he was on the Board of Directors of the Lorain County Labor Agency. Other activities Eddie was involved in while at Ford and with the UAW include; attending classes on drug and alcohol abuse and helping with gate collections in the plant for the members.
Eddie was an active community leader in Sheffield Lake. He served as chairman of the City of Sheffield Lake Planning Commission. He also served on the Board of Appeals Zoning Committee and was the Ward 2B precinct councilman.
He was an avid fan of the Browns and Indians, and enjoyed watching football, baseball, and basketball. Eddie enjoyed bowling, and was a member of a mixed bowling league with his wife. He also enjoyed traveling by car, to enjoy the sights, with Las Vegas being one of his favorite destinations. He was a Golden Glove Boxer in the late 1950's.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda Carol (nee; McCallister), 2 sons; Edwin, Jr. and Robert, both of Elyria, daughter, Anita Rittenour, of Nova, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, brothers; Harry Guidicelli, of Greece, Irvin Guidicelli, of the Dominican Republic, and Andre Garcia, of New York, and sisters; Gloria Byrd, of Sheffield Lake, Gladys Guidicelli, Linda Guidicelli, and Darlene Guidicelli, all of Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Mudrich, in 2000, daughter, Tammy Mudrich, in 2007, father, Ernesto Guidicelli, in 1995, mother, Matilda (nee Santiago), in 1973, step-mother, Juanita Guidicelli, in 2003, brother, Julio Garcia, and sisters; Rosie Davila and Rose Garcia.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 9, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held on Saturday, at 1:30 pm. The Rev. Mark Leonhardt, Senior Pastor, and the Rev. Jim Shaffer, Assoc. Pastor, of the Sheffield Church of God, will both officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
