Edilberto Silva, 76, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born February 24, 1936 in Morovis, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in 1956.
He worked for the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant for 27 years, retiring in 1995.
Edilberto was a member of House of Praise International, Lorain. In the early 1990's, he pastured at Templo Bethel, Lorain for 5 years. His focus was his family and caring for his grandchildren. He loved to read and research the Word of God.
Surviving are his sons, Jose E. of Lorain, Rev. Gilbert Silva of Amherst, Ismael of Lorain, Samuel of Amherst, Mervin of Lorain, Angel M. of Sheffield Village, and Edilberto Jr. of Trenton, NJ; daughters, Elba Ortiz of Lorain, and Yvette Haddix of Lorain; 29 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife 53 years, Francisca (Cortes) in 2009.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in House of Praise International Church, 4321 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 am. Edilberto's son, Rev. Gilbert Silva, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, is handling the arrangements
