Edward "Eddie" Berrios, 79, of Lorain, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2016 at Amherst University Hospital, following a short illness.
Born December 18, 1936 in Comerio, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in 1952 where he has lived since.
He served in the US Air Force in the late 1950's. Eddie worked on the chassis line at Ford Motor Company Lorain Assembly Plant for 20 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, where he was very active in music ministry, choir and volunteered for the church festival and a member of the Guitarras Para Cristo at the church. He was also a member of the Latino Workers Leadership Institute.
He was a self-taught piano and guitar player. Eddie was a master sign painter and graphic designer, carpenter and a great handy man. He had a awesome sense of humor and was very compassionate.
Surviving are his children, Ruby Ann Berrios-Rollins, of Columbus, Margaret Berrios-Brown of Reisters, MD, John Berrios of Cleveland and Eric Berrios of Louisville, KY; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; brothers, Juan Berrios Jr. of Cape Coral, FL and Jose Berrios of Bradington, FL; sisters, Maria Flores and Carmen Longo both of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Eduarda (nee Rivera) Berrios; a son, Eduardo Berrios Jr.; brothers, Alberto Berrios and Rafael Berrios; and a sister, Margarita.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a mass at Sacred Heart Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, will officiate.
