Edward Carrion, age 53, of Lorain, died Thursday, May 23, 2024, at University Hospital in Parma following a lengthy illness.
Born September 12, 1970, in Lorain, he was a lifelong resident of Lorain. Edward attended Southview High School and Lorain County Community College. He also served in the Marine Corps.
He was an active member and musician at Mision Cristiana El Faro – Disciples of Christ Church in Lorain. He also volunteered his time with the prison ministry. Edward had a deep passion for his motorcycles, never passing up an opportunity to take a ride. With a passion for music, he loved playing his guitar and had a great sense of humor. Edward was an accomplished martial artist, kickboxer, and black belt.
Edward leaves behind a family who loved him dearly. His daughter, Vanessa Rae Carrion, was his 'Butterfly,' a term of endearment that spoke volumes about their bond. His brother, Stephen (Xiomara) Carrion, and sister, Melissa (Porfirio) Zarate, will forever cherish their memories with him. His niece, Lailah Rose Carrion, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also mourn his loss.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Benilda "Benny" Carrion, in 2009 and his father, Edward Carrion Sr., in 2016.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Mision Cristiana El Faro—Disciples of Christ, 940 W. 5th Street, Lorain, where funeral services will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Crucita Marrero, pastor, will officiate. Following the service, Edward will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avene, Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
