Edward S. Chimenti, age 90, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2023 at Avon Place Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born on April 27, 1933 to Attilio “Harry” and Nettie (nee Stanchi) Chimenti in Glens Falls, New York. The family later moved to Lynbrook, New York where he grew up. In 1952 he enlisted in the Air Force where he served for four years and obtained the rank of Sergeant. While in the Air Force he was an instrument flight instructor and traveled to Texas and South Carolina. Edward married Eleanor (nee Colella) on April 14, 1956. He worked for the Lorain Shipyards and later as an electrician at the Lorain Ford Plant. He worked there for 35 years before retiring in 1995. Edward was also a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain.
Edward had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed playing the piano, carving wood, drawing, golfing, and completing crossword puzzles. He and his wife also enjoyed attending Italian festivals.
He is survived by his daughter, Diane (David) Chimenti Fate; granddaughter, Taylor Fate; sisters-in-law, Ellen Pongracz and Ruth Colella as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor M. Chimenti as well as both of his parents and a brother, Arthur Chimenti.
