Edward Herrera, age 70, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
He was born on November 9, 1938, in Lorain, and has lived in this area his entire life. He attended Clearview High School and served in the United States Army.
Edward was employed at Ford Motor Co., as a utility man for 15 years, before retiring in 1984. He also worked for the railroad and did some construction work. He was a life member of the VFW Post 8686, Sheffield Lake. He enjoyed carpentry, making shelves, antique cars, and always looked forward to going to his "Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club."
He is survived by his son, Brian Edward, of Dallas, TX, daughter, Kimberly (Joseph) Santoro, of Sheffield Lake, 3 grandchildren, brothers; Michael, of NV, Antonio, Jr., of S. Amherst, Joseph and Robert, both of Lorain, Ramon, of NV, Ralph, of CA, Alfonso, of Medina, and Francisco, of Columbus, OH, and his sisters; Gloria Sullinger, of Lorain, Mary Mellott, of FL, and Soledad Andrick, of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Doris S. (nee Carr), in 1999, a grandson, Jonathon Edward, and his parents; Antonio and Sofia Teresa (nee Berstling) Herrera.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 25th, from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral Services will be Monday, at 10:30 am, at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Rev. Jay Roller, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, will provide full military honors.
