Edward L. "Skinny" Lerchbacker, age 88, of Lorain, died on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Kingston of Vermilion following a brief illness.
He was born on June 4, 1918 in Lorain.
He served in the United States Airforce as an airplane engine mechanic.
Edward was employed as a roller in the #4 blooming mill dept. of US Steel for 44 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local #1104.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Edward enjoyed traveling and gardening.
He is survived by his sons: Donald of Henrietta Township and Dennis of Houston, TX, his daughter: Darlene Hohla of Orient, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Barbara (nee Cvetovac), parents: Fred and Pauline (nee Stazay) Lerchbacker, sisters: Pauline Lustek, Leona Varhola, and Angela Lerchbacker, and his brothers; Frank, John, Bill and Ben Lerchbacker.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 26, 2007, from 4 pm until 7:00 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. A funeral mass will follow at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Joseph West, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, where full military honors will be presented.
