Edward James Randall, 76, of Lorain, died suddenly on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at his residence.
He was born March 22, 1933 in Ebensburg, PA, to the late Edward L. and Helen (nee Crouse) Randall.
Edward worked for Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown, PA before moving to Lorain in 1962. He then worked for General Motors in Berea and Elyria before working at Lorain Works US Steel and USS Kobe as a system and electronic repairman. He retired from there in 1998 after 26 years of service.
He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, Lorain, and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104.
He enjoyed sports and played on several basketball and softball teams in Pennsylvania as well as fast pitch softball in Lorain. He also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and Cleveland Cavaliers, and crossword puzzles.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Margaret (nee Kostan); a daughter, Karen Randall of Elyria; a son, Jeffrey of Lorain; sisters, Helen Van Steen of New York, and Mary Bradley of Illinois; a brother, William Randall of Alabama.
The family will receive friend on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, 812 Main Street, Portage, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 806 Hammers Street, Portage, PA. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Portage, PA, with military honors. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling local arrangements.
