Edwin Anton Olsen, 75, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Monday, May 17, 2010 at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio following a lengthy illness.
He was born Feb. 19, 1935 in Elyria, living in Lorain until moving to New Philadelphia in 1985.
He served in the US Army as a military policeman in the 1950's. Following the service, Edwin worked for General Industries in Elyria, then at the Lorain Ford Plant. He retired from Terminal Ready Mix in 1969 after 8 years there.
Surviving is his daughter, Theresa Ann Celestino of Lorain; 2 grandchildren; sisters, Nancy (Larry) Holkenborg of Huron, and JoAnn McFadden of Los Angelus, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Josephine (nee Young) Olsen; and sisters, Ruth Marion Lengyel, Dorothea Shreve and Patricia Olsen.
Graveside services will be Monday, May 24, 2010, at 3:00 pm, at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. The Veterans of Foreign War Post 451 combined with the American Legion Post 30 will conduct military honors. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain is handling the arrangements.
