Elaine G. Carney (nee Marsac), 97, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Lake Pointe Health Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.
Born May 11, 1916 in Flint, Michigan, she lived in Lorain most of her life. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1935.
Elaine worked for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Lorain for several years in the 1950's. She also worked for Faroh's Candy for 10 years, Central Hardware and Kresgee Department Store.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Lorain, The Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary and the Lorain Democratic Women's Club where she was in charge of voter registration.
Elaine enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Surviving are her sons, Ken (Colleen Donnelly) of Amherst, and James D. of Lorain; a granddaughter, Shannon (Tim) Partin of Vermilion; great grandchildren, Jayde, Carrington, Kamden and Brinley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David P. Carney in 1991; her parents, Fred Marsac in 1967 and Margaret Jean (nee Mack) Marsac in 1981; sisters, Evelyn McCue in 2011 and June Bardoner in 2006.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue., Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor of First Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
