Eleanor M. Engler (nee Vagrosky), age 79, died on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph Residential Center, Lorain, following a brief illness with cancer.
She was born on July 9, 1926 in Lorain and has lived here her entire life.
She was a 1944B graduate of Lorain High School.
Eleanor was employed 11 years as an educational aide for the Lorain City Schools and prior to this she was a lunch aide for 9 years at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School.
She enjoyed bingo, crafts, and also was a writer of short stories, many of which were published in Readers Digest.
She is survived by her sons: Thomas Engler, David Engler, and Robert Engler all of Lorain, Alan of Ludowici, Georgia, daughters: Karen Swihart, Deborah Avalos and Constance Januzzi, all of Lorain, 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley B. Engler in 1999, daughter, Joann in 1996, parents, Joseph Vagrosky and Leocadia (nee Butkowski) Vagrosky, a brother, Charles Vagrosky.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral Mass will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr Joseph West, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
