Eliazar "Alex" Garza, Jr., age 52, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Lorain, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Houston Herman Memorial Hospital, Houston, Texas, following a sudden illness.

He was born on September 27, 1953 in Lorain, moving to Houston, Texas 20 years ago.

He was a 1973 graduate of Southview High School, Lorain.

He was employed as a sales representative for Martin Fluid Power in Houston for the past 16 years, prior to this in Lorain he was employed at US Steel in the Coke Plant.

While living in Lorain, he was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel.

Eliazar was a active member of The Homing Pigeon Association of Houston for over 40 years. When he was younger he was in the lightweight division of the Lorain Golden Gloves.

He enjoyed being a avid trapper and provided medical aid and rehab to birds and other animals, he also enjoyed reading, spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years: Corrina McGowan-Garza, of Houston, Texas, daughter: Destiny Clark, of Houston, sisters: Mrs. Samuel Graciela "Grace" Arroyo, of Lorain, Mrs. John Marilyn Barlow, of Middletown, Ohio and Sylvia Rivera, of Middletown, Ohio, brothers: Jose Garza, of Fairhope, Alabama, and Antonio Garza of Trenton, Ohio, 10 nephews and 1 niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Eliazar V. Garza, Sr. and Cornelia A. (nee Alicea) Garza, brother: David Garza in 1998 and brother in law: Paul Romero in 1985.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 26, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 8:30 until time of mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
