Eliu G. "Leo" Salas, age 83, of Lorain, died on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Specialty Hospital, Amherst, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 21, 1929 in Fresno, Texas, moving to Lorain in 1951.
He was employed at US Steel for 34 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, United Steelworkers Union Local #1104 and Mexican Mutual Club.
Leo enjoyed walking and watching the Cleveland Indians.
Surviving is his sons: Larry (Cecilia) from Watertown, WI, Louis, Alex, Eric Salas all of Lorain, daughter: Virginia (David) Kevorkian, 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, sister-in-laws: Yolanda, Martha and Mary, brother is laws: Lupe and Joe and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Fredrico and Rosenda Salas, brothers: Samuel and Fredrico, sister: Febe and sons: Charles, Robert and Michael.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
