Eliza P. Hernandez (nee Palacios), 94, of Lorain, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at her residence while under the care of New Life Hospice.
She was born June 14, 1913 in Coahuila, Mexico, living in Malakoff, Texas before coming to Lorain in 1941.
While living in Texas, she worked as a nurse's aid and as an interpreter.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and the Guadalupe Society of the Church.
She was a homemaker, and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her sons, Ernest of Sheffield Lake, Jesse and Francisco both of Lorain; daughters, Adelina "Lele" Cornejo, Rita Hryszczenko, Alicia Hernandez and Sara Hernandez all of Lorain; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and many great great-grandchildren; a brother, John of North Ridgeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Pedro R. Hernandez in 2002; parents, Juan M. Palacios and Refugia (nee Sanchez) Palacios; brothers, Carlos S. Palacios in 2000, Frank in 1935, and Antonio in 1995; sisters, Theodora Ybarra in 1956 and Paula Martinez in 1979.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue where funeral services will be Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
