Elizabeth Kargard (Kacsandi), age 96, of Lorain, died on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain.
She was born on March 5, 1913 in Lorain, where she has lived her entire life. She was a member of the former St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church. Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, Hungarian and Polka music, doing yard work, but most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters; Rosemary (Ronald) Stephanchick, of Lorain and Betty Jean (Peter) Hayward, of Arizona, her 3 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Alfred, in 2000, parents; Steve and Elizabeth (nee Kulic) Kacsandi, brothers; Steve, John, Joseph, William, Calvin, and Jimmy, and her sister, Irene Kish.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30, from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am. The Rev. Kevin K. Saylor, Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
