Elizabeth "Betty" K. Reardon (Shagovac), age 84, of Lorain, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on September 24, 1923 in Lorain, Ohio, where she was a resident for her entire life. Betty was a graduate of Lorain High School.
She was employed as a currier for Lorain City Schools, where she retired from after 25 years. Prior to this, she was employed at St. Peter's Cafeteria.
Betty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Lorain. She was a member of the Postal Auxillary and a Canasta Club.
She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards.
She is survived by her sons; Wayne (Cindy), Bruce (Nancy), and Larry (Karen), all of Lorain, and her daughter, Marilyn (Loren) Mayer, of Wakeman, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, her brother, Richard, of Amherst and her sister, Ann Arnold, of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Daniel L. Reardon, her twin grandsons, Larry and Daniel, her brothers; George, John, and Peter, and her sisters; Mary Pallas and Rose Pullins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where closing prayers will be held the following morning at 9:00 am. A funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 309 West 7th Street, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Charles Henkle, Associate Pastor of Church of St. Peter, will officiate.
