Emilia Gonzalez, age 46 of Lorain, passed away Sunday May 24, 2009 at her home following her long battle with MS. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Modesta Velez.
She was born on January 9, 1963 and enjoyed a full and active childhood before graduating from Southview High School in 1981.
Emilia, a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, is survived by her parents Thomas Gonzalez of TX and Teresa Gonzalez of Lorain, her brothers: Tom, her hero, of Lorain, Adam, her smile, of AZ, Rick, her laughter, of Parma, and Alejandro of TX, her sisters: Amalia, her strength and faith, of Lorain, and Christina of Columbus.
Her passions are her art, athletic spirit, pets, and all that is Lucille Ball.
A hero to all of us, Emilia has taught us all not to take our ability to breathe, smile, walk, run...for granted. She fought and won her battle with MS, and will forever be our hero.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, from 7-9 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held the following morning at 8:45 am. A funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 am, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
