Emily Wengryniuk (nee Furdyn) 88, of Lorain, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home following a short illness.
Born March 15, 1924 in Lorain, she lived in Lorain her entire life. She graduated from Lorain High School with the 1942A class.
For 20 years, Emily worked at Hills Department Store in Lorain as a department manager, retiring in 1986.
Emily was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Lorain, and the Legion of Mary and Altar and Rosary Society of the church. She loved to bake and spend time with her family.
Surviving is her daughter Mary Ann Wonson of Shaker Heights, OH; sons, George of Bainbridge, OH, Wesley of Orlando, FL, John "Jack" of Frederick, MD, and Joseph of Atlanta, GA; 8 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George in 1999; her parents, Wasyl in 1955 and Anna (nee Rupnicky) Furdyn in 1963; her son-in-law, Robert Wonson in 2009; a sister, Stephanie Wawryszczuk in 1999, and brothers, John in 1957 and Walter Bandersky in 1996.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-8 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, with a rosary at 5:00 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:30 am in the funeral home followed by mass at 12:00 pm at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Rev. John Retar and Rev. Lawrence Martello will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
