Ermelindo DeJesus Arocho

Ermelindo DeJesus Arocho, age 89, of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
He was born on August 29, 1923, in Caguanas, Puerto Rico, and moved to Gary, Indiana in 1951. One year later he moved to Lorain. He served in the United States Army. He was employed at the Ford Motor Co., in Brookpark, for 34 years, retiring in 1986. Ermelindo was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where he was an altar server and a member of the Cursillo Movement since 1962. He had a big heart and donated to many charities throughout his life.
Ermelindo is survived by his wife of 61 years, Heriberta (nee Velez), his children; Elmer (Vanessa) Arocho, Richard (Celeste) Arocho, Muriel (Tony) Parrilla, Ivan (Evelyn) Arocho, and Sylvia Morales, all of Lorain, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and his siblings; Genovera Boneta, of Vero Beach, FL, Angel Luis Arocho, of Lorain, Antonio Arocho, of Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Elsa Arocho-Gonzalez, of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Emyne Berrios, of Alpharetta, GA, Aida Martinez, of Lorain, and Rosemary Bibler, of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Antonio and Isabel (nee DeJesus) Arocho, siblings; Jose Arocho, Irma Arocho-Silva, and Ernesto Arocho, and a son-in-law, Angel Morales.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave, Lorain. Friends will also be received on Mon., from 8:30 am until the time of his funeral Mass at 9:30 am, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 30 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.
