Ernest Alessio, Sr., 90, of Lorain, died Saturday, October 15, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a brief illness.
Born on May 16, 1915 in Monesson, Pennsylvania, Mr. Alessio had lived in Lorain for most all of his life. He was a 1933 graduate of the Lorain High School. He had been employed at the former Kilgore Oldsmobile, Beck Chevrolet and Sweeney Buick dealership's as a technician. He was the first certified Oldsmobile technician from the General Motors School in Michigan. He had also worked at ATI Transport Terminal in Lorain and had worked at the former Thewshovel in Lorain for 14 years, retiring in 1977. He was known all over northern Ohio as a watch maker-clock repairman. He was a member and trustee for many years of The Church of Jesus Christ-Restored Gospel in Lorain. He was also a member of the Missionary Benevolent Association of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 8 years- Helen C. (nee-Lassen) Alessio-Tisler; 2 sons- Leonard Alessio of Lorain and Ernest Alessio, Jr. of Avon; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother- James Alessio of Mesa, Arizona; 2 sisters- Elvira McVey of Lorain and Rose Surdock of San Diego, California.
Preceding him in death was his 1st wife- Julia V. (nee-Pontier) Alessio; Parents- Leonard and Carmela (nee-Perri) Alessio; 1 sister- Jeanette Velardi.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m., in The Church of Jesus Christ-Restored Gospel, 2655 Broadway, Lorain.
Burial will follow in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
