Ernest "Ernie" L. Parker Jr., age 69, passed away on December 18, 2020 at his residence in Avon, Ohio.
Born January 26, 1951 to Ernest L. and Theresa A. (nee Rebok) Parker Sr., Ernie lived in Lorain/Avon most of his life. Very soon after Ernie’s mother passed in 1959 both Ernie and his twin brother Joey went to live in Highland Heights, Ohio with their Uncle Albin (Beanie), who also passed that same year in November of 1959 and their Aunt Barbara. They later moved to Middleburg Heights with their Aunt Barbara and attended Midpark High School. Ernie and his brother moved back to Lorain in 1967 and lived with their father. He was a 1971 graduate of Clearview High School and after high school went directly on to work for U.S. Steel as a material handler for 22 years. Ernie was also a member of United Steelworkers Local 1104.
Ernie received a heart transplant at the Cleveland Clinic many years ago causing his early retirement. He was grateful and thankful to his donor for the opportunity of life as he encouraged others to consider being an organ donor.
He most enjoyed classical music, attending operas, golf and enjoyed all sports, especially going to the Cleveland Indians and Cavalier games. He also enjoyed keeping in touch with friends (his U.S. Steel Plant Buddies), after his retirement.
Surviving is his brother, Joseph A. Parker; niece, Charity Parker, nephew, Christopher Parker as well as many cousins.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his mother on June 16, 1959 and his father on September 17, 1994.
Graveside Christian burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park on December 29 at 10:00 a.m. For those friends and family wishing to attend the burial services, please wear a mask or one will be provided following the current social distance health guidelines. Donations in Ernie’s name and gifts of sympathy should be given to a charity of your choice or mailed to Dovin Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, OH 44055.
